Preventing Littering
Almost everything we buy comes in packaging. Packaging helps to keep food fresh, makes things
easier to carry or transport and can stop our items from being broken or damaged. Packaging also
carries vital information about the ingredients of a product so we know that what we are eating and
drinking is safe for us.
Packaging comes in all different shapes, sizes and materials. It can be made from paper, cardboard,
plastic, glass and metals.
When making and using packaging it is important to remember the "three R's" reduce, reuse and
recycle.
Packaging can be designed in a way that makes it lighter and smaller, reducing its size and weight.
This means there is less waste to dispose of, while also making it easier to transport, using less
fuel and reducing our carbon footprint and emissions.
We can also reuse packaging. For example, boxes can be used to store books and important documents.
Glass and plastic jars are ideal for keeping toys in or odds and ends from around the house, such
nails and screws.
It is important to know what type of packaging can be recycled and that is why most packaging has a
recycling symbol on it. Being able to recycle packaging helps to preserve and protect our natural
resources. Making packaging from recycled materials also cuts down on the amount of energy and water
that is needed, which is good for our environment.
How to Play
Some people in your park are carelessly throwing their litter everywhere else except the bin. How unthoughtful of them! Help collect all the litter and throw them away into the right bins to keep the park from turning into a garbage ground.
Chris Judd's Tip:
use your arrow keys on the keyboard to throw your items into the correct bins more quickly!
Dash To The Litter
Watch carefully for people who throw their litter away.
Move your character around by clicking where you want them to go. Then
click again on the litter on the ground to pick it up and put it in the correct bin.
Remember they can only carry a maximum of 5 pieces of litter at one time.
Bin The Litter
Now that you've picked up the litter, you'll need to throw them into the correct bin.
